Sort Attribute Dialog
Applicability: Cranium, Synapse (core versions 0315+)

The Sort Attribute dialog is used by many dialogs to arrange values in ascending or descening alphabetical or numerical order. The dialog displays a control for selecting the ordering direction and a list of attributes that can be selected as the key of the sorting process.

Order Control: enables you to select either ascending or descending as the order direction.

Attributes Control: displays a list of attributes that can be used as keys for the sorting operation.
Example: Sorting search terms by property

In this example we will will sort the Sample KB Document's search terms property in descending order.

  1. Open the MKS Sample Knowledge Base document. We will not be saving any changes so ther is no need to create a "working" copy of the document.
  2. In the document's Summary Chapter, scroll down to the Search Terms Section.
  3. Click the left mouse button within the large table control. The application will activate the Search Terms dialog.
  4. The Search Terms dialog displays the attributes of each stored search term in the dialog's large table control. Click and hold the left mouse button down on a table row. Then drag the mouse downward so as to select several table rows.
  5. Click the dialog's Sort button. The application activates the Sort Attribute dialog.
  6. Click on the order control and select 'Descending' from the dropdown list.
  7. Click the left mouse button on the Property attribute displayed in the Attribues list control.
  8. Finally, press the dialog's OK button. The application returns to the Search Terms dialog and sorts the selected rows by Property in descending order.
  9. IMPORTANT: press the Search Terms dialog's Cancel button so we do not save any changes into the current document.
